Make Money From Amazon Without Lifting a Finger
Feb 27th, 2007 by Freddie
This is a great little online business opportunity and it’s available to virtually anyone who has a website or a blog.
So what is this ‘easy’ business opportunity? And how can it help you make a little extra money on your website?
Affiliates program (imaginatively entitled Amazon Associates!)
Ok, big whoop, there are TONS of affiliate programs out there. Why’s this any different?
The reason I like Amazon’s affiliate program in particular is because it’s extremely user friendly and VERY customisable. I emphasise customisable because I really think that the thing that holds most affiliate programs back is the lack of customisation available.
I mean think about it…
If you’re recommending a product on your site. Surely you should be allowed to recommend it using your own tone of voice?
Yet there are so many affiliate programs out there that demand you use a specific banner or turn of phrase in your promotions. Nine times out of ten the said phrase or banner looks ridiculously out of place.
Amazon are a lot let rigid. If I want to recommend a video or a CD to your readers you can fully customise a text link to that product page on Amazon. And if you want to you can even add a little image of the product - it’s up to you.
The money of course comes if someone clicks on that link and goes through with the purchase. Then BOOM you get 5% (this percentage goes up the more you sell).
Don’t get me wrong, don’t expect to start raking in millions with this business opportunity, it almost certainly works best on sites about books, music or film. However, there are a number of blogs that have put Amazon Associates to good use. Here’s a top tip:
- Have a column of CD’s or books in your sidebar under the title: “What’s Playing In Our ipod’s” (or something of that ilk). No idea what I’m on about? A lot of sites do this already…
Check out this blog here and look down the left hand column:
I think Amazon are onto something here and they offer affiliates a wealth of other features (such as the ability to set up your own online shop - although I’m still dubious about that).
Definitely an online business opportunity worth looking at…
Ta ra for now

PS please keep firing those forum suggestions at me. Fantastic so far, I’m furiously taking notes!

Hi
Just made my first post on the Forum.
Why are the posting times showing what I believe to be Eastern Standard Time (USA) !
Thanks Arnold. The site’s hosted on an American server - which is why it displayed ‘across the pond’ times. I won’t bore everyone with details but I’ve fixed the problem!
Cheers
