How to Get More Hits On Your Website or Blog
Mar 5th, 2007 by Freddie
I love online business opportunities, but I have to admit sometimes it can be a little hard to get the exposure you need at first…
Sure we can cobble together a website or blog with relative ease. But once you’ve done that, how do you get people to actually click onto your site?
Google and the rest of the search engines want you to constantly put up fresh content for months even years before they’ll start ranking you favourably in search results. One word: FRUS-TRAT-ING!
But don’t worry, because there are things you can do to speed up the whole process…
Using these tricks you CAN make your website or blog less of a ‘long term’ (snore) business opportunity and more of a ‘get results fast’ business opportunity!
So what’s the big secret?
Well it may sound obvious, but if you’ve got a good product, don’t be afraid of doing a bit of advertising!
I know, I know one of the big appeals of online business opportunities is that they don’t require much capital to begin with… but that doesn’t mean we should be afraid of chucking a few of our resources at advertising.
I often think that because the Internet is a relatively new world of business opportunities, people get scared of pursuing more traditional business models - which is ludicrous! Advertising works in the outside world and it sure as onions works in the online world.
Ok, so how much does it cost?
Well, I have recently been looking into the costs of advertising websites (I mean I plan to do some for TheMoneyAnimalBlog for a start). And the search is yielding some pretty interesting results…
Several sites (which I can’t mention to you yet!) provide onsite advertising for between £30 and £50 a month. Not bad huh? That’s less than a tenner a week.
I know we’re all about keeping costs down, but if you want to make money from online business opportunities then sometimes you have to spend a little money.
I mean if a 1000 folk a week came to your site as a result of a £40 pound a month advert, and just one of them spent £10 with you, then the advertising’s already paid for itself. Simple!
Not only that, all the extra traffic to your site will impressive the search engines, bumping your page up the ranks!
Now the thing to remember is this. If you’re going to advertise, choose a website that’s 100% relevant to yours. It’s no good setting up a sporting website and then advertising it on a florist’s blog. Not only will the traffic you receive be unqualified (disinterested visitors and less prone to buy) you’ll suffer at the hands of the search engines too…
You won’t be penalised, but the thing that the search engines love best is RELEVANCY (more on this later) but in a nutshell, if your website’s about football then advertise on a football website. In the short term you’ll get people clicking on you who are already interested in the subject and in the long term you’ll start appearing higher up in the search results. It’s win win!
Right, that’s it for now, more on this in Today’s Money Tree…
