They all focus on completely different blogging subject matters: from sports to gossip, from politics to gadgets. It’s worth taking a look at sites like this from time to time and trying to suss out their secret.
Ok so why are they so popular?
I’m sure you’ll agree that while they’re well written, it’s hardly Shakespeare. So what’s the secret of their success? Well, there are several factors…
For one, all these sites are constantly updated - at least twice a day in most cases. Now that may sound like a lot of work - but think about it, if each entry’s only a couple of hundred words, that’s hardly going to eat huge chunk out of your day. And there are two reasons why you need lots of frequently updated content:
1) Google loves it - they think you’re the real deal. 2) The reader’s know they can rely on you for fresh content. There’s nothing more annoying than going on a website and seeing that it hasn’t changed for goodness knows how long. It looks like the author doesn’t care - and if the author doesn’t care, why should the reader care?
Following on from today’s Money Tree, I can’t stress how important it is that you make your blog interesting and opinionated, not overly bland and formal. A lot of these sites report ‘news’ but add their own satirical jibes and comments.
That’s what people want, something to get them thinking. Whether or not you agree with the blogger in question, if they catch your attention for just a minute or two then the chances are you’ll be back at some point. Who knows, maybe next time you’ll click on an advert and buy a product.
Honestly, these guys make money from blogging in a big way and so should you!
