Soothing Business Opportunities

Now this isn’t a new idea, but I’m always amazed at how much money folk in from this ’soothing’ business opportunity. The funny thing is, you don’t even have to be fully trained in this skill to take part!
So there I was, enjoying a beer at a pub in Farringdon on Saturday with a friend. It was earlyish (about 5:30pm), we’d had a couple of pints and were just enjoying the last remants of fullblown sunlight for the day.
As our conversation drew to a natural close a girl in her mid-twenties suddenly appeared at our table. She was wearing a T-shirt that affiliated her to some sort of group:
“Excuse me guys. I’m a trainee massage therapist would you like a five minute session?”
“How much is it?” (my friend cheekily piped up)
“Whatever you think’s fair” she said smiling.
My friend had a massage, which he told me later was ‘alright’.
But what did he say at the time?
“Wow that’s fantastic, thank you so much”.
Then, inexplicably embarassed at the idea of paying someone in coins he gave her £5.
£5 for 5 minutes work?!!
That sounds like a pretty good hourly rate to me (try £60ph) and for a trainee massage therapist!
The lesson here? People desperately want to seem fair. If you put the responsibility of payment in the customers hands, 9 times out of 10 they’ll pay over the odds!
Worth thinking on…

PS I’ll hit you tomorrow with this new property business opportunity I’ve been ranting on about - it’s a gem, so keep your eyes peeled…
