Save Money on Petrol and Diesel

“Do you feel lucky punk?
Well, do you?”
A classic line from a classic film.
But what IS luck? In fact, is there any such thing?
I don’t believe there is such a thing as either good or bad luck – it’s just statistics in action.
Here’s a key phrase to remember: “Over the course of the average lifetime, good and bad luck approximately cancel out.”
You’ll find twenty quid one day, then lose it eight years later.
A friend will cut you in on a business deal one year, but ten years later a different friend cuts you out.
You win £1,000 on Premium Bonds but fifteen years later you get an unexpected medical bill for £1,000.
You get the idea.
This is a deep concept because what I’d really love for you to do is eradicate all reference to the word ‘luck’
in your speech and in your thinking.
I would also insist, were it in my power, that you stop playing games of pure chance such as the National lottery.
Why?
Because a corner of your mind, no matter how small, is still thinking: “Money is made in this world by luck - by sheer blind chance. There are two sorts of people.
The ‘lucky’ – they get money by accident; and the ‘unlucky’ – they don’t have money. One day, I too may be ‘lucky’ and get wealthy like other ‘lucky’ people have.”
In other words, it short-circuits your ‘Will To Wealth’
– the driving force which knows it must take firm, decisive action in the real world to make that wealthy life happen.
The corrosive and polluting effects of that way of thinking FAR outweigh the vanishingly small chance that you will get rich by luck alone.
For example, the chances of winning the National Lottery are about 1 in 14 million.
Okay, what does that mean?
It means that if you chose a sequence of numbers and they agreed to run the lottery every hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year then you would wait, on average, 1,500 years for your win!!!
Get out of the ‘luck’ mentality.
People don’t craft excellent lives for themselves using luck! Come on! It doesn’t work like that and you’re dreaming if you think it does.
Get real. Dump the luck habit and start the focus habit.
Focus first on what you want.
How MUCH money? What SORT of relationships?
Then focus on the steps you must take to get from where you are now to where you want to be.
Break it down. You can’t do this all at once, all in a rush. Note those steps down 1-10.
Then make a start TODAY on step one.
Remember this:
“Success is simply a matter of luck. Ask any failure.”

Are you like me and just fill up the car wherever you happen to be when you notice the guage is on low?
You’d be quite surprised how much you can save by shopping around. There’s quite a bit of variation between the cheapest and the dearest petrol.
Typcally there’s a 5p/litre difference between the cheapest and the dearest in your immediate postcode area. This would save you on average £100 a year. Okay, not a fortune, but it’s similar to getting free road tax – which I’m sure you would like! You can check out the prices in your area by going to www.petrolprices.com and entering your postcode.

“Everyone who has ever taken a shower has had an idea.
It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it that makes a difference.”

Democracy – Who Needs It?
*****************************************
Veteran readers of mine will know I’m fond of saying
that democracy is simply unlimited tyranny by the masses
and that there is nothing inherently perfect about it.
Far from it.
Instead of having one, easily identifiable tyrant
lording it over you, we have sixty million petty tyrants
all claiming ‘their share’ of our wealth.
For example, the greatest threat to your wealth is not
thieves, lack of opportunity or greedy capitalists it’s.
. your friendly, democratically elected government.
They take 50%+ of your wealth from you under threat of
force (resist and you will be jailed – that’s a pretty
good definition of force).
Most people think this is ‘a good thing’.
But then ‘most people’ are net recipients of the loot!
I think it is one of the biggest evils perpetrated on an
unsuspecting and gullible public.
As Brecht said, very aptly: “Those for whom taxes are
destined, demand sacrifices.”
How true.
So I was very struck by this short piece in The
Guardian, which I will leave you with today.
Eduardo Ferrari, an Argentinean cameraman who has lived
in Dubai for the last eight years, says he “…couldn’t
give a damn for democracy. I live here in the most
democratic country in the world. Why? Because the
economy is taking you by the tip of your head and
pulling you up. Every year I have more and more. In
Argentina, every year I have less and less.”
Argentina, like the UK, is a Socialist ‘democracy’.
Dubai is a ‘repressive, undemocratic’ regime.
Have you visited Dubai recently?
I know which country is doing better. I know which is
freer. I know which has fewer draconian and intrusive
laws, I know which has fewer surveillance cameras and
which arrests and imprisons fewer people per capita.
No contest!
Must dash. I have to buy my lottery ticket…
Yours,
Stuart Goldsmith

PS: I thought eating pizza just put on weight - but
apparently it can make you £788.20 in minutes! I know it
sounds ridiculous but just make sure you check your
email tomorrow. Freddie’s REALLY excited about this one
and I can see why.
